Welcome to the My OH! Momma Blog

Okay, you may be wondering, “Um…what’s a blog?” At My OH! Momma, our blog is an informal space where you can find some genuine mom-to-mom interaction. This is where we broach the subjects we’d talk about at playgroup or in the waiting room while the kids are in dance class – you know, those meaty moments that sustain us in times of parenting fatigue and frustration. But you don’t have to wait to catch us at the bus stop to ask a desperate potty training question or get the fact that your mother-in-law’s unannounced visits are driving you to sniff the kid’s markers until you forget she’s there off your chest. You can reach out here anytime. After that 2 a.m. feeding. Before you wake the kids up for school. Naptime. We’re here, waiting for you to pull up a post and join the conversation.

Each week, we’ll get the dialogue started with entries that fit into the following categories:

  • OH! Wants To Know – It’s kind of like a poll. We ask a question, you give us an answer. So, yeah. A poll is exactly what it is.
  • OH! Yum – From recipes the kids can make and eat to delicious dishes that’ll change your perspective on life, it’s all about food.
  • OH! Kids Grow – We’ll feature memory-making, fun, and educational activities you can do with your kids to help them accomplish the inevitable task of growing up.
  • OH! Don’t Ya Know – So maybe you need to know how to organize your closet. Or cut a pineapple. Or teach your child manners. Or improve your attitude. We’ll put on our “how to” hats and break it down step by step.
  • OH!’s Top Ten – So there’s this list of ten things. The first one is good. The next one is better. And the last one is the best.  It’s like that.
  • ShOH!down – The Farm at Walnut Creek or Rolling Ridge Ranch? Cloth diapers or disposable? We’ll let you duke it out and name a winner.
  • OHHHmmm! – It’s all things inspirational. Stories. Quotes. Photographs. Poems. (Not the kind that start with, “There once was a man from…”)

Sippo Lake Park

Features three entrances: Perry Drive NW, 12th Street NW, and Genoa Avenue NW.

The park district Administrative Office is located at 5300 Tyner St. NW, Canton, OH 44708, off of Pery Drive.

The Exploration Gateway (at 5712 12th St. NW, Canton, OH 44708) opened in June 2007 in partnership with the Stark County District Library. This new facility, which houses the park district’s educational programming staff, is a gateway to nature, culture, and life-long learning. It also features three community rooms, a distance learning lab, and the Herbert W. Hoover Foundation science classroom. The Congressman Ralph Regula Canalway Center Exhibit Hall highlights the natural and cultural history of the Ohio & Erie Canalway and The Lily Pad Gift Shop features a variety of locally made products and gifts.

The Sanders Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and the Public Safety/Operations departments are located at the Genoa Avenue entrance (800 Genoa Ave NW, Massillon, OH 44708).

Sippo Lake Park was purchased in 1977 with a Community Development Block Grant because of its central location between two of Stark County’s major cities. It provides visitors with a variety of amenities, programs, and 202 acres of deciduous forest, wetlands, old fields, and mixed shrub areas. Featuring a variety of habitats for wildlife viewing, this quiet urban oasis is home to a large number of bird species, including blue herons and other waterfowl. The songs of spring peepers, frogs, and toads also enliven evening sunsets along the shoreline of the 100-acre lake. The bluegill, crappie, carp, catfish, yellow perch, and bass that make Sippo Lake their home often jump right out of the water in the lake’s early morning mist.
