I love the library.  We go at least once a week.  It’s one of the few fun things that is completely free.  A lot of people don’t use the library to their advantage, maybe because they don’t know how awesome it is.  So we want to share with you some great ways to use your local library, and if you know of any others please pass them on!  Be sure to stop in this month- National Library Card Sign-Up Month!- and get your free library card.  Here are some reasons why:

• Free shopping.  Yep, when I’m in the mood for shopping, I get on the online library catalogue (www.tusclibrary.org) and request items using your library number and pin code (which is the last four numbers of your phone number if you go to the New Philly library- just call your library if you’re having problems). I like to get on Amazon or the New York Times bestsellers list to see what looks good and then request whatever strikes my fancy.  It makes me feel like I’m online shopping without any of the guilt.
• Did I mention free movies?  You can request movies, too.  Free.  They call you or email you when they come in, and hold them for you so you don’t have to wait.  The rental places don’t even do that. 
• Let Your Kids Explore Online.  Tusclibrary.org has a “kids search” which will show the pictures of books/movies/music/whatever you’re searching for.  When my daughter wants a Magic Tree House book, she can scroll through them herself to see what’s new.  It’s like Christmas.
• Homeschool Specials.  If you’re a homeschooler, get a special card that lets you keep books longer and not pay fines.  Wish I could get one of those.
• Awesome Programming.  How does a safe Trick or Treat sound? (It’s October 26 from 5:30-7:30).  Cupcake decorating classes? A hip hop dance class? Guitar Hero Tournament?  Learn photography, computer fundamentals, join a book club, improve your finance know-how, and much much more!  And, of course, don’t forget their great story times for the kids.
